I am extremely honoured represent Fylde as this year's Fylde Mayor and to accept and fulfil the responsibilities that this trusted position merits.
Born and raised in Liverpool - I moved to Fylde over 30 years ago with my husband and it has become, along with our daughter, a much-loved adopted home!
For the past 16 years I have represented the interests of Fairhaven now the new Carnegie Ward at Fylde Council.
For the Borough of Fylde, I have held positions of Portfolio Holder for Health & Wellbeing and Chair of Tourism and Leisure Committee.
I also represent Fairhaven Ward on St Anne’s on the Sea Town Council and have held both Deputy and St Annes on the Sea Town Council Mayor positions.
In addition, I am also Chair of Governors of Weeton Primary School.
It is usually takes around 20 years of service to be awarded the honour of being made the First Citizen and, in order to stick around that long, a councillor must keep on being re-elected so I would like to take this opportunity to thank the residents of Fairhaven and now the new Carnegie Ward for continuing to put their trust in me to represent them on Fylde Council.
As I embark on my Mayoral year, I am fortunate in having the support of my husband Paul as my consort and my beautiful daughter Gabrielle, my friend and colleague Councillor Peter Anthony as my Deputy, with his husband, Mr Paul Lomax, as his Deputy Consort.
I am also very happy to have my vicar and friend, the Rev Chris Scargill of St Thomas’ Church as my chaplain. I intend that we shall all enjoy the year whilst fulfilling the civic duties which will come our way and raising money for my charities – Lytham Hall and World Horse Welfare Penny Farm.
