Mayor of Fylde - Councillor Angela Jacques
I am originally from Middleton near Manchester. The family moved to St Annes when I was 19 and I have lived in lovely St Annes ever since. The first 9 years of my working life were spend in the tourist industry helping to run the family hotel, I then went into teaching where I taught all ages and abilities including people with special needs.
I have been involved with St Annes Carnival for over 40 years, the last 19 as its chairman raising money for local good causes.
I am also involved with the Guiding movement completing 40 years’ service in 2019. I have worked will all age units and many a weekend as the female Leader and cook for Ranger/Venture activities. Presently I am a Brownie Guider. I also served for 13 years as a District Commissioner.
I am on the board of the charity One Fylde and the Volunteer Centre, Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre.
I was elected to Fylde Borough Council and St Annes Town Council to represent the people of St Leonards Ward.
It is a privilege to have been selected as Mayor of Fylde for 2019/20 and I will do my best to serve you well in my term of office.
My charities this year are Bloodwise, Blood Bikes, Kilgrimol Building Fund and One Fylde.
Mayoress of Fylde – Miss Charlotte Jacques
I have lived in Fylde for 26 years. I was born in Windsor and moved here when I was around 1.
I went to Clifton County Primary School, Lytham St Annes High School, then onto Bispham College where I achieved Level 3 Childcare.
I am a mother to my son Toby, who is nearly 3! And I enjoy every single second. He is my sidekick!
Whilst bringing up my son, I also work 3 days a week, currently as a healthcare assistant for a business in St Annes and this certainly brings out my passion in care. Before this, I worked for 7 years on the trams in Blackpool.
In my spare time I enjoy taking my son out as much as I can. This usually takes up my spare time now! But when I do find a few minutes I enjoy playing the piano and seeing friends.
I am honoured to be Mayoress of Fylde and I hope i can fulfil this position to the best I can in the company of my Grandma - the Mayor, Angela Jacques. I am looking forward to a fun filled year raising money for very special charities, also alongside the Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress, Richard and Sheila!
